C'est La Vie Worm Farm is a small farm between George and Groot Brak on the Garden Route, who has taken the more environmental approach to Vermiculture. At C’est La Vie Worm Farm we concentrate on reducing the amount of waste going to the landfills. Thus we only use organic material that would normally be thrown away, i.e. fruit and vegetable waste from households, restaurants and supermarkets etc. Most worm farmers in South Africa use animal manures as their staple diet. There are many other ways of converting horse and cattle manure to a good quality compost but there are only a few ways to convert our organic waste to something better than carbon dioxide and methane, and this the earthworm can do well. I thought a quick background on vermiculture and worm castings would be in order to peak your interest in this subject.
